Don the eel man

Friday 21 march
We had visitor today - Don the eel scientist
We learnt so much ... we learnt 


  • They can swim backwards
  • The male eels leave first 


  • Long fin eels eyes are very good  
  • When they evolve they have another name
  • The rings on the ear bones can tell you how old an eel is.
  • They eat ducks and ducklings 
  • They sleep in the day 

When the eels are about  to leave they don't eat.
They will latch on and spin round and round to eat their prey.

have spots.

There are 19 kinds of eels in the world 
Their teeth face back.wards
They eat crabs
and 1000 of eels come back from Tonga when they are born.
